Getting the urge for a new handgun.
    I currently only have 1 .45 in my collection & it's a Kimber Warrior

So I was looking for a non-1911 .45 to add to the collection.

I don't own any Hk's or Spingfields yet
I am a left and prefer guns that have ambi-controls

I have a Springfield XD in .45ACP and I like it a lot. Nice feel in the hand.

You could get a Ruger wheel gun with the two cylinders, .45ACP and .45LC. Great gun. You could add a lever gun in that caliber as well.

The vaquero is a good choice - love mine, hav e both the acp and lc cylinders. Then again love the Kimber custom II.

Is there really a bad 45?

There was a maker outside of Niagara Falls, NY, called Sterling Arms. Not sure if they ever got their .45ACP to function but their .380 was a POS. The .45 looked like it was going to be as bad and maybe worse.

So YES, there can be bad .45's.

I have the S&W M&P .45 in the compact model. Even though I own an original 1911, I don't think I would buy another .45 except the S&W. It is that great of a pistol. It is a simple and easy to handle DAO semi auto with no bells and whistles. I equate it to a 10 shot revolver with a 6lb trigger pull.

+1 M&P, I just recently bought my S&W M&P in .45 and absolutely love it. SMOOTH accurate and FUN.

I've shot a few .45's in my day, and the best one i ever shot was 3rdRcn's sig P something. Was the smoothest .45 i've ever shot the recoil was just smooth i can't explain it, there was very little blow back more like an up and away feel very easy to bring back on target. I love my WWII colt but thats not one i'd shoot often.
