My 9yo tagged a small doe on Friday. My nephew tagged a button buck (his first deer) on Saturday. Was a pretty good beginning to hunting season. It didn't carry over to bear season.

Sounds like the kids procured some tender vittles.Congrats to both of them

Hunted 17th and 18th, saw nothing in the morning on the Thursday opening day. Saw one buck in the evening on the edge of a field, ranged him at 291 yards. Also saw a bunch of does Thursday evening. Friday 18th, passed on 3 bucks and lots of does. I’ve had a very busy few weeks and adding processing a deer to the mix for meat was out of the question, so I wasn’t taking a shot unless I had an opportunity on a really nice buck. My time is freeing up around mid week this week, so I plan to bow hunt a bit coming up.
