Question Tower by Walmart in Westminster

A new tower went up in Westminster by the Walmart and across the street from the new Point Breeze Credit Union.

Surveillance? Communications? Russians? Aliens?

So a cell tower? I thought they would be much taller, like the ones by highways. Or is it for something else? Maybe security for the Credit Union?

Thanks for finding that gamer_jim!

There were quite a few of these that looked similar throughout London. New technology?

Probably a zoning and land use issue. Sometimes the NIMBYs force the comm companies to make the towers 'look prettier', at times even requiring them to 'look like trees'.

There are quite a few of these being put up around town. I thought they were for the new Ting network that has a contract with Westminster.

It's an architectural shroud around many small vertically lined up directional antennas. Microwave spectrum is so expensive that the cell carriers would not waste any of it with a omnidirectional antenna.
