deadly on coop/yard ducks also. They are more common in these parts than most think. See several roadside ornaments every year.

Saw a dead 6' gator on the road driving through Georgia last Sunday.......wife wouldnt let me turn around to check it out and poke it with a stick....

Here is the one I found dead on the road March 3rd.
How many will it take to make a fur coat?
I agree that it's not something I've seen before, is the mink population on a upswing?

Saw a DOR last year on Rt 26 about 200yds east of the 26/27 junction. Also photo'd a live one in New Windsor in 2010. So they are definitely not rare...

I saw a mink run across Paper Mill Rd near the bridge yesterday. Baltimore County.
