Picked this 20 gauge Remington Model 11 up this morning at the Howard County show. Normally i would avoid a gun like this, has extra holes drilled in the receiver for a scope mount, but there was just something I real liked about it and it was cheap.
Dates to May of 1946 and considering it's age it is decent shape bluing wise, wood has had extra finish poorly applied but there is nice grain hiding under it and there are no cracks and few gouges. May strip and finish over the winter.
Has a Lyman Cutts compensator and it came with an extra tube which is worth 40 bucks or so.
Should be a fun gun for sporting clays, this old Browning patent A5 style guns work well for me.

    Yours is a beauty! I have a small collection of long-recoil shotguns. 2 remington 11s; franchi al48, 11-48 and a a5. I love all of them.

I saw that at SCSG months ago and thought it was really awesome. I guess I should have bought it :(

I have a Remington 11-48 shotgun my 88 year old father-in-law gave me. It has a piece that broke off the barrel on the breach end of the barrel. Stock is nice checkered one, so I stripped it and was going to refinish it and look for a barrel on ebay. To my surprise there is usually a couple for sale, but they are selling for more than the guns are. So I guess, my question is it even worth wasting my time trying to get a barrel or should I just sell the remaining parts on ebay.?
