Looks like I lucked into an early 69A couple weeks ago in pretty good original condition. 98% bluing, very good light tiger stripped wood with only a few scratches. Has the adjustable peep with a hooded front that I don't remember seeing all that often. Screws are perfect.
Came with an original 5 and 10 round magazine.
Found it sitting in a rack at a gun shop in PA on the way back from a sporting clays shoot. Few pics and a pic of my 1956 69A that has a grooved receiver and chrome bolt and trigger guard.

Nice find, Augie! When we were kids, my dad bought the same rifle, with the same sights, for my older sister to learn to shoot. They carried them at the base PX on one of the bases where he was stationed. I think one of my brothers grabbed it from home--and hopefully still has it. She learned the basics of shooting, but never developed a lasting interest.

Hey Augie, this rifle shoots great. I know you were curios when we met. Finally had time to get it out. I thought i'd post in this thread since you have nice photos and description already.

I'm not used to shooting irons with 22s. I chose the worst targets for my eyes. I could only really make out the corners. Lol. I found a fuzzy line of dots and shot where I thought. Anyway, I am happy! This was at 50yds. With better targets and maybe glasses, I think this thing will shoot dimes.

It was a pleasure as always talking with you.

Thanks for the update, good shooting, you are right, get some 5" black bull targets and use 6 0clock hold and I bet it will shoot dimes.
Glad to see it,as I had never shot it very glad to see it shoots well.
    Enjoy and thank you.
