A guy I went to high school with went through the medical evaluation process for becoming a W01 flying helos for the Army. They found something in his eyes that would have affected his night vision 15 years out and told him couldn't fly helicopters but, they encouraged him to enlist to become a helo mechanic. He went off to FAA ATC school instead. This was around the time that Uncle Ronnie bounced the striking FAA ATCs.

When I took the FAST test they actually had a warrant officer maintenance program. It was similar to the pilot program only obviously the HS grad they took in went to learn squadron maintenance instead but still did the nine month WO school.

If anyone has any questions regarding the Army's flight program, I'm a UH-60 Pilot and can get you pointed in the right track.

Off topic. Heard an interview with a F-35 pilot and how they LOVE the plane. The flight helmet costs 400k. The face shield has a HUD unit in it and apparently camera systems all over the plane. If the pilot looks down, he can see below the plane or any of the blind spots. Crazy.

    Handy for parallel parking.

Yes, the A10 is nicknamed the Warthog. Its real name was the Thunderbolt II since it's mission was similar as the P-47 Thunderbolt. I don't think I ever heard anyone ever refer to it as the Thunderbolt II though.

I'm 36, a little overweight and I've only ever flown a Skyhawk...but if my country needs me :)
