I’m interested in loading rounds for some Japanese rifles, specifically 6.5x50 and 7.7x58

I see Norma brass for $1.60/case, and Privi Partizan for $0.60/case.

Any rational reason I should consider an extra $1/round for Norma?

I've loaded both and Norma is better but for a milsurp rifle I think I would go with PP. The Norma might last longer but an extra buck a case is quite a difference.

Use PPU cases unless you find Norma for a good deal somewhere. Get the Hornady Universal 6.5mm Neck Sizer Die and set it up for 6.5x50. That’ll extend your brass life, but keep your cartridges separated for each rifle after neck sizing.

That’s what I do and it works great.

I've loaded Norma and PPU brass in 7.62x54R. The Norma just screams quality and durability. But, in the end, Norma isn't that much different - certainly not a dollar/case - but it is sexier.

Thanks. I’m sexy enough, no need to up the ante! LOL

I'd make the old worn out Chevy vs Cadillac or Volkswagen vs Mercedes comparison.
If you just need to get around, the Chevy (PPU) is quite serviceable. If you want the nice fit and finish, then get the Caddy (Norma).

The Norma I've used didn't need primer pocket uniforming or flash hole deburring. The PPU did. I've also gotten a couple of off center flash holes in PPU.

Overall, I wouldn't buy the Norma if it's for a milsurp.
