The next Maryland Rally Point Shoot will be held on Sunday April 15th at the DelMarVa Sporting Clays Range near Cambridge, MD. :mdpatriot

We had around 40 people back in January for our last shoot and with the weather clearing up, there's no excuses for not coming and meeting your online friends from The Rally Point, The Maryland Shooters Forum, and to meet with members of Maryland Shall Issue to find out about the recent general assembly actions.

It's tax day...celebrate or mourn depending on your perspective.

If we have enough people, we'll have food there. We'll figure it out as we get closer.

$10 to shoot all day for pistol and rifle ranges.

Look for door prizes and other cool stuff.

Not too many rules...just enough to make it safe and fun for everyone.

Be sure to check out the rules for the friendly rifle competition

    Schedule for the day.

Food wll be avaiilable. Probably $7.00 per person.....will update as we get closer.

    jpkmd,

Let's see if folks want another one this time around. There were some folks that were a little put out that they couldn't use the pistol range for most of the day. Not me of course....I was in the clinic :D

e-mail sent to the RWVA Folks.

Just to get a show of hands how many people would definately commit to:

    Sunday Only Mini Appleseed Clinic?

Sat and Sun full day Appleseed Clinic?

If we can get a show of hands and commitments that would be great and would help justify them making the trip down.

For those of you that don't know what an Appleseed Clinic is as per below:

    Quick Answers to Appleseed Questions

    What is Proiect Appleseed?

It 's a program to train people in basic rifle marksmanship using rack-grade rifles and surplus ball ammo. A program to revitalize the tradition of the Rifleman.

    Who should attend?

Appleseed is perfect for teaching brand new or experienced shooters. There is something for all to learn.

    Why "Appleseed?

Appleseed" comes from Johnny Appleseed, the American folk hero who toured the country, planting appleseeds, not for himself, but so future generations would benefit.

    What's vour real agenda?

Teaching Marksmanship and the Rifleman Tradition, and respect for our Rev War history. That's all we are about.

What kind of rifle do I need?

You can use any safe firearm which can be accurately shot from the shoulder, from a .22 to a .32 (8mm). While semi-auto friendly, we're not unfriendly to bolt guns.

What kind of sights are allowed?

Appleseed is content-free so far as sights .- you can use ANY.

    What caliber is best?

They all are. Appleseed is not caliber specific ..308, .30-06, ,223, 7.62X39, 8mm, ,303 even.22 rimfire is fine.

How much ammo do I need?

It's best to bring 200 rounds per person per day.

How much does it cost to attend?

$70 for 2 days which includes a free t-shirt, $45 for only one day, plus any
additional range fees, usually between $5-$10 a day. Children 20 and younger shoot for free, as well as active or reserve military and guardsmen with military ID. Elected officials and candidates for office can also shoot free!

    Why military rifles?

Because they are fast and easy to reload, but you can if pinched bring a hunting rifle .just be sure to practice reloading it fast!

    Do I need a sling?

Yes. Military style web sling. Nothing fancy is required.

    Can I use a bipod?

No. We teach the basic shooting positions, using a sling

Do you have a checklist of things to do in preparation?

Yes, you can find that information and go to the forum. There is a great deal of information under the Appleseed Project thread and FAQ's

Is there a list of what I need to bring?

There is a great deal of information under the Appleseed Project thread and FAQ's

    Can Kids come?

Yes, and under 20 years old, shoot for free

Can I sign up. and be squadded with my buddies?

Of course you can. You can even be squaded with your
    internet buddies you've never met.

Where can I get more information?

Go to or check out Fred's article in the Shotgun News, at any Walmart, under Fred's MI4 Stocks.

Are there other shoots coming up?

Yes, in Utah, Washington, Georgia - and we are looking for more places in
the Southwest. Louisiana is also in the works.

    jpk1md,

I sent a message to Pacer, the instructor from last time, to see if he would be willing and available.

If we have an Appleseed, it will have to be just the one day event this time since we're using it as a Rally Point shoot.

We should look at having the multi-day clinic as a stand alone event.

If you want you can post a poll and I'll put it on the home page. When you create the poll one of the options is to make the votes public so that you can see who is/is not coming. Just a suggestion since you won't have to weed through all of the posts, you can just look at he poll results.

    For everyone:

Out of courtesy to Jamie, the owner of The Rally Point, please be sure to visit The Rally Point Forum and take a look around.

Jamie has done immense work in getting these shoots off of the ground and holding them to a high standard.
