Update on registration procedures. One of my firearms was approaching three year expiration date.
1) I did not receive renewal reminder from DC MPD
2) I did check DC MPD site. They have renewal application online as well as ancillary multiple firearms renewal. application
3) Printed and fill out forms, about 20 minutes at home (mostly double checking serial numbers).
4) Went in with forms and no appointment
5) handed over forms, ID (drivers license).
6) paid $13
7) a) informed new cards would come in mail in 10 days. (yes they are still separate wallet cards)
b) All firearms (so far registered) will now have same expiry same day in three years.
c) all were reregistered for single $13 fee.
d) As my more recent fingerprint two years ago was digital I did not have to be printed again or pay $25 print fee
e) I assume they are running background check again
f) personnel was, as always, polite.
g) received printed "Temporary Firearms Registration Certificate" letter, good for ten days, since cards may not come before one of the firearms registration lapses.
Time at DCMPD was under 15 minutes.
