Requiring a court to inform a person convicted of a specified disqualifying crime that the person is prohibited from possessing a firearm under specified provisions of law; requiring the court to advise the person that specified proof must be provided to the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services that specified firearms owned by the person or in the person's possession have been transferred from the person's possession; etc.

MSI and the other groups generally support this bill. Major pushback from the Judicial system when we heard this on the Senate side.

Danielle is up. Too easy for abusers to get guns that are prohibited. (Too bad she doesn't talk about prior criminal history and revolving door lack of justice). Saying people who are convicted are not turning over weapons. People can go home from court and get their gun and commit crime. Wants notification at trial.

Heads up to anyone else here with us today; Vallario isn't calling names to come up. If you want to testify for or against, go on up when he's asking for new panels.

Another MDA. Just giving the sponsor a verbal BJ for introducing legislation. Wants disqualified to be notified. Talking about trial summary sheet. Talking about what to to when notified - but didn't give details.

We're still here documenting the proceedings. The greys haven't taken us for probing yet.

As a reminder, HB1424 is before the committee.
