I'm retired law enforcement...and unfortunately I knew those who would do exactly that. We were obligated to follow any legal and Constitutional orders from higher authority. More than one of us would refuse based upon how an order followed that dictum. It cost me at least once by refusing...not immediately but management has a way of screwing with you and covering their tracks.

This is cope. It will pass and at best they'll extract a grandfather clause. No one is going to shoot anyone. No one has before and no one will now.

You can count on Soros and Bloomberg to dump tons of money into any races where any Dems might suffer being voted out. If they can't win they can cry in comfort from any funds left over in their campaign accounts to salve their butt hurt.

Not like they can use them after the campaign. That said, they can have one hell of a cushy campaign.

Who knows. I am not optimistic, but I do suspect some of the dems from more conservative districts do realize they’ll be out on their butt if they support draconian laws. People running for office do it because they either are running to do what they really believe in, or because they crave power. The later is going to do what they need to to keep it. That means representing their constituents the best they can (or at least 50.01%) and if they can muster, at least 50.01% of their party’s voters.

Gerrymandering means they only need to care about 50.01% of their own party, but that’s not the case in purple districts (which is rare).

Most of the districts in VA it wasn’t about gun control. Most was anti-trump sentiment. I think most of the delegates realize that. So if they go full stupid on gun control, they’ll be out (at least many of them). Might not stop it from happening, but some will pause.
