For you guys who have your own compressors, have you set up a water/oil separator yet?
I don't feel the one that came with the Yong Heng compressor is good enough especially set up as it was.

I modified mine for filling the guns by adding desiccant beads between pieces of the white filters. However, I don't want to chance that small unit for filling my tank and am looking at the tuxing filter. Anyone have one?

It's recommended by Joe Brancato who I know personally from our time in New York and I think he is the closest person I know to a madd scientist. He now lives in California and has a business dealing with High Pressure Air stuff including PCP air guns. I really don't want moisture getting into my tank for many reasons let alone it being a potential bomb.

I'm curious about this myself. The water separators I've seen are pricey ($2-300) and require regular changes of some medium.

I watched a tear down video of my rifle and it seemed a simple device. The manufacturer has parts support. I feel like I can fix whatever breaks for about the cost of a water separator. If I had a high end rifle I'd do it but with mine I'll risk running without it for now.

I'm very new to airguns though and don't know what the odds are on my gamble. The threads I've read on the big forums didn't seem full of doom sayers. My (admittedly short) impression is that it's not on par with pouring sand in an engine but I have no idea on the mileage I'll get from the wear-and-tear caused by the water.

But again, I don't have a $2000 Daystate. I'd be finding that solution if I was in that position.

The real concern is corrosion in the pressure vessel. If you get corrosion in a pressure vessel, you may not see it until you start filling it and it explodes. :sad20:

I have seen 3000 PSI hydraulic accumulators explode and they do a lot of damage.

Get e refrigerator air water separator. We had to get one for our plasma table. The normal one wasn’t good enough

I don’t think it’s that beefy. We only need 120psi for the plasma table

I didn't think that refrigerators ran high pressure. Luckily, some engineering types have taken measurements and done tests on the various oil/water separators marketed for High Pressure Air rifles. Their comparisons basically prove that "you get what you pay for". In this case, the difference between $30 and $139 dollars may be the difference between life and death. ;)
