    Worth a quote ...

    :sad20:
Many of us see this as a logical consequence of liberal society. All around, liberalism is driving faith out of the public square and inculcating in its place a belief that nothing matters but an individual’s desires and feelings. Society is then not a community in which stable and permanent relationships (earthly and heavenly) give meaning to life but a place where isolated individuals pursue their own satisfaction.

For those children lacking a permanent community and belief in a power greater than themselves, the social group in school or neighborhood may seem a solution. But that simply makes the pain and isolation of being excluded from such an apparent source of meaning more intense. And exclusion does occur, because none of the members of the group see it as a community, but rather a playground for their own desires.

I am a non-believer and have raised my two sons as non-believers.

They are morally decent and responsible young men.

Faith is not a requirement for being a good person. To say so is insulting millions of people.

I have no problem with faith and believers; to each his own.

How do you reconcile the fact that violence in schools has increased dramatically since the liberals continue to push to remove religion from our lives.?

I am not interested in arguing about or debating this. I just stated my view. You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want.

That is all I have to say on it.

Friend, I agree that faith is not a requirement for being a good person. But it sure can't hurt. Thank you for raising decent and responsible men....s

Correlation is not equal to causation.

All of us need a moral compass. All of us need a sense of community and to be held socially accountable for our actions. Religion can provide that, but it's not the only source. Breakdown of extended family and the concept of "it takes a village to raise a child" is probably a bigger reason.

If I didn’t know this quote was about religion, it sounds just like what an anti 2a person would say to a pro 2a person.

It is important for youths ( and all people ) to have standards of Moral and Ethical Behavior .

Many religions seek to impart this , but they are not exclusive source .

You say religion, I say entitlement programs that have incentivized and effectively broken up the family structure.

Does religion make moral people, sure but it also makes VERY immoral people. Raping children like the MANY priests in the Catholic Church lately is by all western standards Immoral. The war waged between the Protestants and Catholics in Norther Ireland was pretty immoral. The Islamic extremism going down in the Middle East is also pretty immoral. People are pretty f’ed up in general. Religion doesn’t make that better or worse.
