Was considering getting a suppressor and was hoping the local FFL across the border in WV could do the transfer if he's willing. Also, anybody in Allegany County dealed with Sheriff Robertson?

Short answer: Yes, the FFL does have to be in MD.

    Long Answer:
    BATFE said:
Section 9.3 Interstate transfers of NFA firearms. ATF will not approve the transfer of an NFA
firearm to a non-FFL/SOT residing in a State other than the State in which the transferor’s licensed
business is located or the transferor resides. Such interstate transfers would violate the GCA. However,
See section 9.5.4 regarding the custody of firearms by employees of FFLs/SOTs.

All NFA items are covered by this IIRC. IANAL and all that.

Are you thinking you need his approval? You don't anymore... they changed the law.

Now you just send him notice you are getting it!

FYI, notice goes to MD State police. I had my Form 4 returned for corrections because the LEO notification wasn't to the Superintendent of the MDSP.

If you buy an NFA item from out of state, it gets Form 3'd from the out of state SOT to you Md SOT. Doesn't cost you anything but a little(sometimes a lot) more time. If you can't find what you want, look at Silencer Shop(https://www.silencershop.com/). They have a list of all the SOTs nearest you in Merryland. You can buy directly from them and your Md dealer will handle the transfer once all the legalities are satisfied. They will handle the transfer as well as tell you the procedures. Most will also have a SS kiosk in their store. Skip getting an NFA Trust unless you have family 'members' whom you would be ok with handling your NFA items without you being present. Otherwise, no need for the extra expense.

google is your friend, I am not.
use silencer shop for your transfer (you do not need to buy from them). Find a kiosk, they do the prints and the smartphone app does the pic. They print everything, review it, and submit it. And the LEO notification goes to Colonel William Pallozzi :tongue01:

Its so easy you'll end up with ... a lot of boating accidents.
