My buddy bought this 22LR Marlin a few weeks ago and wanted to know if he could put better sights on it, but we have no idea what model it is....can anyone help me out?

This was the info he sent me:
    The gun says,
    Marlin firearms co.
    New Haven, Conn - 22-S-L-LR

    And the S/N is 212-50-7389

Looking at the trigger guard, looks to be an older Marlin to my untrained eyes - couldn't even give a guess to the model, sorry...

I'm not sure it's really old, though....traditionally, if you take the first two digits of a Marlin serial number and subtract them from 100, you get the year of manufacture. In this instance, it would be a 1979 model.

Not sure of the model, but it is missing the rear site slide to adjust it up and down.

this .. Get the adjustment slide and try that before putting too much into it for new sights . That part should only be a few bucks and will greatly change the sight picture .
