I was always under the impression that firearms need to be stored in a reasonable manner, such that they are not immediately accessible to certain people, like children. I'm not sure that they need to be "locked-up."

What drives me nuts is that I've been shooting since I was a kid. I've come back to Maryland from overseas/out-of-state and the gun laws are insane. Growing-up, we never worried about this stuff. You were safe and responsible and just followed basic safety rules.

Back in the 80's, I used to throw my AK on the front seat and head to the range without giving it a second thought. Nobody gave a damn.

As long as its not loaded, you are still legal doing that.

Thus, the only inquiry that this Court should conduct is to determine whether the firearms prohibited by the Act are protected by the Second Amendment. Because they are, the Act is simply unconstitutional.

Yep the transport statute applies to handguns not long guns.

As noted only requirement for a long gun is unloaded.
