I haven't had one in some years and am thinking of getting another SAA type revolver. I am looking at Cimmeron but have never seen one of their guns in person. I have had real Colt's in the past and am not interested in paying Colt prices for a shooter.

Does any have any experience with Cimmeron firearms?

Cimmaron...at least most of them if not all...are made by Uberti. Uberti builds for more than one reseller and builds to the quality level contracted for. Cimarron is one of the companies that contracts for better. The best is probably Taylor's and Company out of Winchester. Their stuff is awesome and the price reflects it. Taylor's also offers in-house custom tuning of their revolvers. Taylor's also will often have dinged and dented merchandise that will sell at a discount.

The EMF Califorian also has enlarged sights .

Mfg by Pietta , in recent years Pietta has largely closed the percieved quality gap , and llke Cimarron and Taylor's relationship with Uberti , EMF claims to have better guns than generic Pietta .

Just throwing another option to consider .

I have bought a few guns from EMF in the past and I was happy with them.

Atlantic is a little out of the way so I'll probably use Tylers.

The Cimarron Evil Roy should be a great pistol. I say should as I've never seen that model, only Cimarron's excellent reputation and the Evil Roy slick-up job should make one fine pistol.

I’ve got a Cimarron US Cavalry. This version is supposed to be pretty close to a Gen 1 Colt. It has the thin sights, black powder base pin screw and floating firing pin. In the last few years, most Cimerrons (Uberti) come with a retractable firing pin if that matters to you.

I only have a couple hundred rounds through it but haven’t had any issues. Timing is good. Front sight is a little canted but seems to hit to POA as well as I’m able to shoot...

The throats pass a .452 cast bullet with a little resistance. Very minor if any leading.

I would like a real Colt some day but might get a EMF Californian II in a 4 3/4 barrel for comparison and to have different barrel lengths. The EMF supposedly does not have the firing pin safety and get high praise on cowboy action forums.

Nice. When you say retractable firing pin, what do you mean? I am not familiar with those.

I might have some terminology wrong but as you probably know, the original firing pin is in a fix position and would rest on the primer when lowered, hence the load five for safety mantra.

The new retractable firing pin does not allow the firing pin to rest on the primer. Basically this adds more parts and some folks don’t like changes like that.

This site has a decent graphic and explanation of the new style.
