You never know what the archives is going to turn up.

Taken from a Oct 1942 test on whether to employ the Swiss style of Paper Ammunition Clips whether it could save on brass.

I think it goes without saying the concept was strongly rejected.

Not terribly significant but neat concept.

    Thought I'd share.

(In case anyone was wondering, no the SNs of the rifles used in the test were not recorded in the complete report.)

That would be a holy grail for an ammo collector. An intact original paper "stripper clip" from the tests.

How do they perform when soaking wet?

Appears they considered it, just probably not perhaps the beach landings soaking wet level of moisture. But doesn't specify what the weather was, does it rain a lot at Fort Benning, GA?

The Swiss clips are waterproof and very durable- a lot better than those crummy USGI clips. The Swiss clips can be used over and over and over . GI clips are pretty much single use- I use Swedish clips in my Springfields.

The Swiss clips seem like a primitive plastic. I think they are heavy paper which is thoroughly impregnated with some kind of waterproofing varnish.
