Two new Dan Wesson 1911s. The Silverback is beautiful and classy, which I expected it to be. The Specialist in Distressed Duty finish is awesome looking. It’s my first 1911 with a rail. The Distressed finish is polarizing, as some love it and others think it’s for “posers” who want their 1911 to look like it has seen Battle. To the haters, I don’t care. I actually got this finish because I’m anal and thought I wouldn’t care about getting marks on a “Battleworn” finish, even a slight idiot scratch. No such luck. The finish is pewter/bronzish-black that is beautiful. I’ll be anal with this weapon too.

I’ll let you know how they shoot when I take them out.

Man! I've been looking at those two Dan Wesson's for months it seems. Congrats.
And, you had to go and put the "just buy both" on the table!

That’s a nice one Doc. Is it a list of different parts or did you use a donor gun such as a Colt parts kit?

A bunch of different parts. Slide is Remsport, The internals came from Thunder Mountain Tactical or from Brownell’s.

This gun was built for the 1967 National Matches. It was built by the Army’s armorers. As some may know, they would pull 1911’s of the rack and fit the frame with a Colt National Match slide. They came with a sticker around the front of the trigger when new. This came without the sticker, but you can still see the adhesive. It has been fired very little, if at all.

Where does the Rock Island Arsenal come into play for that pistol? Guessing an arsenal reworked inspection after the war? That is extremely cool and a gem of a 1911.

By the way, the recent Norinco 1911 thread got me looking. There is a hell of a deal on a mint condition pistol on GB right now. Link won’t work when posted. Search Norinco 1911. It’s BIN is $549!
