Got a Marlin 795 Stainless Steel for Christmas from my wife. Hadn't had a chance to shoot it yet...

My wife said she had to fill out all kinds of forms, including Form 4473.

Is that normal? I thought only regulated firearms went through that scrutiny.

I believe for 4473 needs to be filled out by everyone. If that's the federal one that has the white, yellow and pink copies.

I know murland forces people to sign the mental history crap. Plus the defacto registration paperwork that goes to the msp.

The 4473 is standard for all firearm firearms in this type of purchase. If you have a C&R (03) license, then some guns can be bought without the 4473. This form has been around in one form or another since the GCA of '68.

If that's the federal one that has the white, yellow and pink copies.

Sounds like you have the MD Regulated form mixed up with the 4473. The latest 4473 I saw was yellow, single copy, two pages, back and front. The MD 77R form is carbonless multi sheet, multi color.
