Ive been carrying a ka bar bk17 the past few days, gotta say i like it. The sheath is a bit large but it works well and isint cumbersome...i like that i can remove it without taking my belt off as well. As far as the knife goes its a ka bar, so good quality and well made...i accidently checked the tip the other day on concrete (missed the sheath putting it back) all it did was put a tiny scratch in the edge, didnt even dull the point...took a good chunk out of the concrete though lol

No fixed blade for EDC. I'd probably do a neck knife or BK11-sized/styled knife if I did, though.

This Chris Reeve Nyala would probably do well on a belt - pouch sheath with a high ride set-up.

Thats a great lookin knife, i would almost feel bad about actually using it lol...almost

Always carried folders due to the goofy laws here.

Thats a shame...i feel like more people should OC fixed blades more often...brings awareness to peoples rights, or at least i feel like it does. Alot of people still think there is a size limit...

I carry a fixed blade pretty much daily, one of these 4 depending on where I am going and what I am doing.

I carry a Mora clipper (carbon steel) or Forester when I'm doing something manual or woodsy

you don't get messed with carrying a large fixed blade open?

Why should he? It's not illegal. Open carry is all about context. If your wearing a hard hat and clothes covered in plaster, nobody even notices. If you look like a sleezeball loitering around a convenience store at 11pm, then you might have a problem.

occasionally a seal pup, when I am working on big things that need cutting, if I carry it out and about it is concealed(in PA ). It's a decent blade, secure relatively comfortable grip, decent sheath, sized right, and inexpensive enough I won't cry if it breaks or gets chipped, I do beat the hell out of it. 99% of the time it stays in my truck and I EDC a nice large folder and/or a small multi-tool with a pocket clip, I already have a pistol in a wide hybrid holster and a spare mag carrier on my belt, sometimes a multi-tool too, so a folder that can just clip to a pocket works better for me.

So far even with the big sheath making the bk17 look alot larger than it really is ive only been asked a few times, in disbelief by them, if its legal to carry such a large knife. The kabar is a quite tactical looking, in a way i wish it was a bit more formal looking, all black would maybe hide some of the tactical look...or who knows maybe make it worse.
