Colt Neutered versus AR versus M-16 styles.

Which one and why? Or does it make any difference?

prolly be fine with standard m16 phosphated if you're in the mood to do it with as little additional unnecessary expense as possible.

i'm fond of the AIM v2 NiB that's in my blackout though. that thing is dirty as fck when i run it suppressed (getting adjustable gas for it, because it's so awful) and literally just wipe it off the BCG, no issues.

When you start going with a lighter BCG (JP LMOS, titanium/aluminum carrier, etc.) is where you have to start changing to adjustable gas, etc. to compensate.

I have a couple of AIM NiB bolts. They were recently on sale for $99. I like them, too

Right now, 3 of them have the Colt neutered bolt carriers.

The Anderson .300 BLK upper has an M-16 BC.

Keep the gas rings oiled if you get a NiB. They will seize up in the carrier bore after shooting if you don't clean and lube. Standard carriers with chrome lining don't do this.

Thanks. I have one old one with no bottom round, open all the way back, and another with a very small bottom in the rear. My 6940 I bought a couple of years ago has the same style as my M16. I always though the ones with no bottom were for SA and the full ones were of FA design. Some of my Colts have the sear block and an older one doesn't. Always hated that feature.

You have one neutered one and one AR type.

I checked what is in what and found something interesting.

My old HBAR (with sear block) obviously has the neutered one.

The 6920 I picked up last year (new) has an M-16 one from Colt. My 6921 from Lou (LE trade in) has a neutered one.

See the photo of the sp1 carrier where you see more of the firing pin? Those are complete junk and you should remove them from any AR with them. They can cause the firing pin to bend and bind leading to a misfire or worse off a slam fire when the bolt is dropped on a round.

The tail is not a big deal on any at unless you have a sear block. If you have a sear block you have to remove the sear block to use an AR15 or M16 carrier because the rear part will interfere. The carriers with sear blocks have the half moon rear where its milled completely off. Its easier to remove the block than modify carriers to fit the weapon.

Notched hammers used on the unshrouded firing pin carriers will also lead to problems due to increased friction.

What exactly do you mean by a notched hammer?

Ones with the hook at the top?
