I have a question as I've let my understanding of Maryland gun laws slip over the years and I'm trying to catch up.

Is there any reason the Origin 12 gauge can't be sold in Maryland? Awhile back I sent an email to Origin asking if they were legal to own in Maryland and they said no.

Is this correct? If so why? It's my understanding SBS's in Maryland don't have a length requirement like SBR's.

I honestly am not sure about overall length for the SBS category, but if I recall correctly, the 2013 ban specifically calls out side folding stocks as an evil feature that nets said shotgun a smack with the ban hammer. For safety! I want to say that rotating cylinder magazine fed is the other major feature that is banned. Outside of street sweeper style shotguns, I will not comment on what else that might apply to. Not an expert and I have heard all kinds of speculation.

I seem to recall seeing the Fostech SBV in a Maryland gun store at one point, so you may want to look into that.

ETA: For those who may not follow my meandering late night post style, the Fostech Origin has a side folding stock, so it is banned for being a semi auto shotgun with a side folding stock. Which is the same reason my Vepr 12 has a fixed stock instead of a folding stock.

No Rotating cylinder, means an actual rotating cylinder. Think revolver, or Rossi Circuit Judge .

The Feature Tests are for Semiautomatic Centerfire Rifles only .

No, there is a feature test for shotguns.

A semi-auto shotgun with a folding stock or a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

    (V) A SEMIAUTOMATIC SHOTGUN THAT HAS:
    1. A FOLDING STOCK; OR
(VII) (VI) A SHOTGUN WITH A REVOLVING CYLINDER
