That worked fairly well. I was worried that the process would create some toxic smoke but that didn’t happen.

Here is about 1/2 of the crud.

    Where do you get from?

Glad it worked, and that looks like a large pile of crud. Good Lord, makes me wonder if using a suppressor is better than using hearing protection. Leaning toward the latter after seeing that pile.

Seems like the dot5 would be messy. I'd think a spray on silicone from any auto parts store would be easier. Most brake fluid takes paint off.

Most brake fluid is not silicone based.

    TOTALLY different chemical basis.

I didn’t realize he was referring to actual Dot 5 brake fluid. I could try silicone spray. I use it all the time on doors and windows around the house.

Just got done reducing my spacer material. Was a few thousands too big. No access to a lathe, so had to use a pressure plug, drill press, and some coarse grit sandpaper. Took a while, but the TI spare tube finally fits into the D Cell TI tube.

Been a good NFA week. Got my Omega on Friday from Dan at Baltimore’s Best Pawn and picked up my Cerakote and Engraving job from Hanover Armory today.

Hoping for a little help, I planned on building one of these a few years ago and got a stamp back in 2015. Life got in the way but I want to get on it now. Looks like a lot of the sources have dried up, but I can still source parts. My stamp is for a .30 cal 10" can. I can go shorter than that, correct? Last I had read, plugs were used for the baffles, but now I'm reading about cups?

What size tube is recommended for my can, D cell? Anything I'm not thinking of?

Check out post #506 above and work your way down. I’m not going to recommend any deviation from your stamp but in my case i was about .4” short of 10”.

9mm can use B cell or D cell. The B cell has about the same diameter as the Gemtech GM-9.
22 can be C cell, B cell or D cell
.45 cal or Rifle rounds D cell

Generally parts are repurposed. Freezeplugs as baffles. Some prefer cups. Sxxx sells barrel shrouds. If you repurpose them and use them for something else, that's on you. ;)

As for length, shorter is ok. Longer is a no go. If you specify that your suppressor is 12" long, don't go over otherwise your stamp is no good.

    SDtacticalarms.com :)

They do not sell solvent trap kits. just barrel shrouds and things to put at each end of it. A muzzle brake or flash hider may be used to connect *repurposed* shoud to your rifle.

NAPA online sells freezeplugs. ATF sells stamps. Once you have the stamp put them all together.
