Sarbanes: Your AR is a Weapon of War Not a Hunting Rifle

“We can quibble over the definition of assault weapons. There are certain weapons, such as a fully automatic weapon that has a high number in the clip or magazine constitutes an assault weapon. As for semi-automatic, you can get into some kind of debate.” – U.S. Rep John Sarbanes

Any weapon that's used in war is a weapon of war. That means - today, right now - pump shotguns, bolt-action rifles, pistols, knives, rope, tires, and as needed, pointy sticks. This phony distraction is nonsense anyway - the founders made no distinction between a citizen's arms and professional militia member's arms. That was the whole POINT! They acknowledged that a standing military was, alas, going to be necessary ... and said through the 2A that, despite that need, nobody in government can use it as an excuse to disarm the people. That's what the British had done, and the founders said no more. People like Sarbanes are trying to invent an issue to argue about so that we can all get caught up in talking about things like magazine size and forget that the 2A is written explicitly to make sure that people like Sarbanes can't nuance guns right out of his constituents' hands.

The second amendment has nothing to do with hunting. Sarbanes’ opinion of which type of gun I should own (or worse which type he thinks I need) is irrelevant except for the fact that he holds political office.

I own an AR-15 in case I need to kill someone. Sometimes people need to be killed; that is the stark reality of life. People should embrace that and not pretend they own it for target practice or hunting.

YES! From a pure hunting standpoint, there is no reason for cartridge guns at all - a double-barreled muzzle-loader is all the gun you need for anything in North America. The whole hunting argument is a decoy.

The Maryland General Assembly's legislative power is the most dangerous weapon of war.

It is used more than any other to restrict, limit, and infringe upon human rights and property.
