I haven't used my FN enough to get any malfunctions. That may change Saturday, since I'm shooting the Super Steel match at Peacemaker in the afternoon. Unfortunately for me, my battle belt with the spiffy new shell holders I got seems to have disappeared, so I'm going old school, weak hand under loading.

That will separate the men from the boys. I would try to borrow something before I went back to week hand loading.

google is your friend, I am not.
Mag fed shot guns will put you in open. In that class you can put a red dot on the shotgun and pistol and have 2 optics on your rifle.

Pistol grips are allowed but will probably slow you down. Loading the shotgun with load 2 or quad loading will require you to flip the shotgun in one manner or another depending on how you do it. A standard stock is much easier to manipulate and reacquire a grip.

looking into it, seems like a lot of these AR-12s are unreliable with low brass, light trap, or bird shot. They are made really for slugs or 3" 00 buck. I am not sure if they use a buffer/spring like a real AR, but if so one could probably get a lighter spring for light trap loads.

Ergo, I will simply need to find some other excuse to buy one. :lol2: At $400 for some of these semi AR-12s, its just about impulse buy level.

I have a Stoeger M3K that I put a polished follower and a Taran Tactical trigger spring kit which if I remember is for the Benelli M2 but they have the same trigger. You can rack it with your little finger. Never did get around to extending the mag tube ?? but as easy as it is to rack the action it will probably cycle as light a load as you want to use. They seem to have a better reliability record than the Mossy JM and cost about the same price.

I got an m3k a couple months ago. My schedule hasn't lined up to get to a competition, but did take it to the range for a break in. The manual recommends shooting a bunch of heavy loads before using light target loads. I cleaned and lubed it but decided to start with some light loads to see what the failure rate was. It cycled 100% right out of the box.

I still put some heavy loads through it, but was happy with the performance

    - Remingtons are soft shooting but not terribly reliable, unless you keep them very clean and the tube dry. Either way, there's better options.
Interesting observation. I have at least 1000rds of cheap shells through my versamax competition and have made a point to never clean it. Has not failed (yet). Some day it won't go bang but I'm sort of curious how long that will take.

Completion and recreational shooting are very different duty cycles. And occasional competition is also very different from weekly practice and high level competitive shooting.

Anyone that has run a JMPro 930 w/o incident doesn’t shoot as much as they think they do...... versamax is much better than that.
