Recently got into shooting trap and sporting clays with some friends. Picked up a Tristar Sporting O/U for $400 basically brand new off a buddy. They retail at about $750. I know it's not a fancy gun but it's mine and I love it, anyone got any experience with these?

Anyone shoot trap or clays at the Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club? I really like it there.

Have 2 friends that have them.... Both of them broke... Fixed under warranty Not a big deal.....
I would buy one...Take a spare gun for the first 200 rounds.

Walmart sells Sports South Llc Tristar Setter Over Under Shotgun.... its 400 bucks from Walmart...

This one is a good bit nicer than the entry level ones, it's had about 1000 rounds through it and has been fine. I don't anticipate any issues but I always take my trusty 870 as a backup any time I shoot.

And I'm debating picking up the Tristar Setter or Stoeger Condor for the lady.

I started shooting trap a couple months ago. The entry level Setter model has run flawlessly. Not one ftf or other issue. Not bad for $400.

If those are the two gentlemen who sit on the back bench, they both still say they're great after the fix and worth the money.

I'm thinking of getting the lady a 20 gauge setter so that's good to hear.

I shot a 21, 18 and 21 in trap tonight. Pretty happy with that for a new to me gun.

Shoot at Chambersburg sporting clays 2-3 times a month. One of the more challenging courses around.:)

I had the 12ga 30" semi auto sporting clay model with adjustable stock. I had it for six years and put over 6500 round through it and it still looked new when I sold it. For the money, these are excellent shotguns and a plus is that they use Beretta chokes. The gas system was easier to clean than a Rem 1100 and the 1100 is pretty simple.

Was it as good as my Brownings or Berettas or Caesar Guerini, not a chance. But then again, you are not paying 2 to 8K for it either.

    I recommend them.

I'm shooting pretty well with it so I'm definitely happy.

I'm actually in Chambersburg, and I've shot trap at the Rod and Gun club a few times. Fun group of people there, I haven't had a chance to do the sporting clays on the weekend yet.

My semi from them has been great for the money. The entry-level O/Us that they produce are stiff as can be, so glad to hear that the higher-end ones are a bit better on fit and finish. How is it weight wise? The $400 ones at Wally World are light as can be (which isn't good in my opinion).

It's fairly light. I'd compare it to my 870. I shot 100 rounds through it with no issue in one day.
