    The first thing to consider when looking is "Are there bus lines, subway lines, etc". This seems to be a common denominator with crime rates. No public transportation usually means lower crime.

    I am tried of public transportation anyway, 11 years of bus/subway or some form of treachery in between.

    Welcome! I live about 5 miles from Fort Meade in Jessup. I'd say renting is a smart move so you can take your time and figure out where you'd like to buy.

    My neighborhood is a lot of DoD folks.
