I have been given a cross bow that I would like to have the string changed
along with haveing it looked over before useing.
Bow is an older Barnett Wildcat model.
Recurve, not a compound. Would also like to see if they make auto cockers for them since I have difficulties pulling 150lb's.
Any good bow shop close to Perry Hall I might be able to take it do?:)

Weird, everyone wants to sell me a new latest/greatest compound crossbow opposed to helping me find replacement parts for my recurve crossbow. The whole idea of haveing a "simple" recurve is ease of repair and service in the field in a shtf situation. A compound bow be it long bow or crossbow needs someone with knowledge to set it up concerning the cams and wheels unlike the simple recurve design. Starting to think crossbows are not the way to go and need to learn conventional recurve archery maybe?
Waitng to hear back from Barnett now.

I know this is late..but...I recall that replacing the string is quite simple, IF YOU HAVE the re-string cable used for the operation. It usually came with the bow.
    1. cock the bow
    2. slip the re-string cable thru the loops on both ends of the bow string, on to the ends of the arm. Now, make sure the bow is well anchored, as in cocking....
    3. grab the string, pull the trigger and S L O W L Y release the tension on the string.
    4. the bow will now be "tensioned" by the re-string cable, allowing removal of the string.
    5 carefully remove the string.

Reverse the process to re-string. The re-string cable is shorter than the string.
