My family and I have been in Colorado for 15 years. As with all good things, this part of my life is coming to an end and we plan on returning to the Baltimore area early next year. While I spent much of my early years in AA County, I went to schools in the Catonsville, Irvington areas.

I look forward to being in familiar surroundings. I will miss the beautiful weather and blue skies of the West. This is a wonderful country, from sea to shining sea.

    Be safe.

We should sit down at Great Divide or Epic or Bull and Bush and let me explain to you why this is a bad idea. I moved from Maryland to Colorado 4 1/2 years ago and I'd never go back to Maryland.

    Where they send me.
I would consider Damascus (the Syria one) first or maybe Mogadishu. The weather at either of them is at least nice.

If you must be back in the area consider any state outside of this little socialist dream.

Congrats and condolences. As another native who returned to MD 12 years ago, much has changed and very little of what you will remember of home has remained the same.

Maryland nowadays is pretty much a socialist dystopia straight out of a Soviet romance novel. Sadly, it's beyond all redemption. Many of us here dream only of the day when we can get the hell out with what remains of our hard-earned $ and sanity.

    Welcome back, though.

Thanks for the warnings. I am not unaware of the perils of the PRMD. Before entering the military at 21 yrs of age, I was unaware of how free so much of the rest of our nation can be. Imagine living in a state where I could meet in a parking lot and exchange money for a legal product with only the information that both of us lived in the same state. Sadly this can no longer happen in Colorado. Imagine when a standard capacity magazine for an AR has a 30 round capacity and one of the best known magazine manufacturers had their HQ less than 10 miles from my home. Sadly this is no longer true in Colorado. At least in MD, the socialist/progressive party in control of the General Assembly in Annapolis had been in control for almost as long as I have been alive. In Colorado, I moved into a Red state with some libertarian leanings but I will be leaving a dark blue state with a legislature, judiciary, and now a Governor elect who believes that California is the example that our state should be emulating. I have no expectations that MD will be any better than it has been for some time and it has been a nanny state for many decades. I can't imagine remaining in Colorado to watch it become East California run by politicians who think Jerry Brown is a great leader. I weep for Colorado and what it will become in the next ten years based on what has happened here in the past ten years.

What can I say; I am a son of the Maryland Line and it is to the Land of Pleasant Living where I will return.

    Be safe.

Yep... I hate the politics, but I've never left and probably never will. If our leaders didn't suck so bad, it still would be land of pleasant living!

Coming back to Maryland after 15 years? Get ready for a heavy dose of WTF! Seriously, give some thought to choosing another destination.

Wife and I came back for a family visit after spending just one year away and our first thought was, "When can we get out of here!"
