Awhile back I purchased a Millett DMS 1-4x24 with illuminated Donut Dot reticle. Well they got the 1-4 variable part correct but the reticle simply would not illuminate, no matter what the rheostat setting.
Assuming it was defective I returned it to Millet with their permission. Several weeks went buy and the scope was returned saying everything was fine. However the reticle still would not illuminate. A call to Millett and I was told that the scope was built that way. The scope decided when illumination was needed.
That is the most useless feature built into an optic in 55 years of shooting.
Any thoughts as to why they would build in such a feature? Millett couldn't tell me. Truly a fairly inexpensive optic but still.
Thanx for your time. Guner220
