“As I review this bill for a third time, the legal landscape has changed,” Cuomo said at the bill signing. “In March of this year, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York declared the State's existing ‘gravity knife’ ban unconstitutional. As argued by many who have advocated for this change in law, the court reasoned that the existing law could result in arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement.”

People of color have been disproportionately charged with possession of a gravity knife.

You know people of color are also disproportionately charged with gun possession... and constitutional (permitless) carry is actually a thing. Maybe when they lift the CCW ban in NYC they will proclaim how great it is for people of color too. Whatever makes them feel better staying within the bounds of the constitution.

    Where they send me.
Kniferights.org has been behind lots of these laws being overturned. They are doing great work so worth checking out. Also, their annual raffle/membership drive is on now, really worth doing! Win even if you don't get a prize :-) I love watching them get stupid laws overturned and they have won many times now.

I bet he signed the law because the court told him to do so and or their was a court case in the works where NY State knew they were going to lose and did not want to take the chance that the court order would do a lot more damage to NY State laws then they wanted to take the chance with so to moot the case they got rid of it..
