I have been out of gun buying for 20 years or so.
Used to love browsing and buying used rifles - .22s, Minis, etc
Getting back into shooting and small game hunting lately.
It seems most gun shops are wall to wall "tacticool" rifles, with just a few basic guns in the corner.
What shops still carry a lot of used plain old wood stocked rifles?

Helpful and pleasant staff as well.

Why not introduce yourself in the Introductions Forum too?

Not sure where you are located but In Essex The Gun Shop usually has a big selection of used long guns in there side room. A shame they aren’t an IP here any more tho.

If you're ever up in the Waynesboro, Pa. area Herold's Gun Shop has a good selection of wood stocked rifles. Lot of old 60-70's odd and ends to. Such as old leather holsters, reloading stuff from back then, that sort of stuff. I could spend a couple hours in there, but don't want to come off as a nuisance.

If we're including non-IP, Atlantic in Silver Spring has a couple racks of used wood stocked guns.

Thanks for the suggestions,, I think I am going to take a day, pack a lunch and take a "Gun store hopping" day.
Looking for lever action 22's, HR Slug guns, Mini 14's and 30's,
You know when you get in a funk, and only finding a great deal on a used gun will snap you out of it??

    Reluctantly, I’ll add another suggestion.

    The Gun Center in Frederick

If the “owner” is there, you might as well walk back out the door since he’s more likely to ridicule you than answer questions. They do, however, have a fair assortment of guns.

There's also Brownstone Trading in Westminster. His back room usually has quite a few old ones.

If you're up in Hagerstown, stop into Hendershots. Lots of lovely wood-centric long guns. They're in a whole separate room from the tacticool and handgun area. They tend to skew towards the finer long guns, but if you're in the area, take a look, as they have some beauties.
