    Great event!

Seven dedicated Americans decided to come out to the Appleseed rifle marksmanship event to improve their marksmanship, and they learned a lot of American Heritage too!

Saturday started out chilly and raining, and the range was pretty soggy, but didn’t deter any of the eager, teachable attitudes we saw in the students. We of course started off with safety brief Redcoats, and sighters on Saturday morning, with one shooter (Anna) having gear issues that took us awhile to diagnose, a faulty scope, so we put her on a loaner (with tech sights), and bam! On paper and off onto the Appleseed journey! Anna was a new shooter, and definitely our most improved over the course of the weekend. Great job Anna!

After some history at lunch, and more Marksmanship training, we conducted our first AQT, and first-time Appleseed attendee Nathan posted a rifleman score, with several shooters close. Nathan had also cleared his Redcoat target that morning, so a much-coveted Maryland Front-sight patch for him!

Sunday dawned with sunshine, clear skies and hopeful attitudes on the line. The Sunday morning Redcoat saw significant improvement, with two shooters clearing their Redcoats, Nathan again, and Nick. After refreshing some of the safety and marksmanship principles, we started the AQT cycle. Nick scored Rifleman, and then both Nathan and Nick backed them up, Nathan with a 229 (irons) and Nick a 237 (glass). Nick also cleared his redcoat, and earned a Maryland Front-sight patch. Many other students were VERY close to earning their Rifleman patches. Great job team!

Sunday wound up being beautiful, sunny and 75 degrees, and was one of the nicest shoots I’ve helped with – not because of the weather, but because of the wonderful shooters and their great attitudes!

Many thanks to RWVA team: BeSwift, Aninha, DoubleA-Ron, and Bullet Launcher (Paddy) for coming out and helping. Great, crew; thank you! We had many instructors travel significant distance, with Double A-Ron coming in from West Virginia, and brand new Orange-hat Bullet Launcher coming up from South Carolina! And a special thanks to our host range, Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore – Marriottsville, for providing really awesome facilities. Check out their page https://associatedgunclubs.org/
