I was looking at my records and what I paid for a Beretta 1934 3 years ago. Just for grins I checked on current prices. I see there are on GB for high 300's to 400's and beyond? Is that the COVID 19 markup, or is that for real??

That's for realsie's. Depending on markings it could be $1000 or more.
As always, depends on condition, lack of import markings, original finish etc...

What I see on GB are many pin-in-the-sky asking prices. Ya gotta do a search of sold examples to get a firm grasp of what's going on. And somd_mustangs is correct, there are your "basic" 1934s and then there are those rare (airforce and navy marked) 1934s with German issue examples filling in the middle of the market. Throw in condition as a variable and you have a wide range of prices for sure. I've been casually searching for a high condition pre-war 1934 and it's not easy to find one listed for anything I'd consider reasonable.

If I could find a local WWII Beretta pistol in 32 Auto for $400 in good condition, I'd be buying it.

I've got a couple of the Berettas with the AA suffix, this special serial number range was assigned to a number a pistol sold directly to German headquarters in Italy during World War II via a purchase order placed on Beretta.

That AA suffix is very cool. Pretty sure my Beretta is plain Jane. I really love the ergonomics on it. Easy to take down. Beretta is popular for a reason.
