Regarding the newest model of Ruger American Ranch .300 BLK rifle using AR magazines, do they solve the feeding problem that was occurring with the earlier rotary magazines. I can't find anything on the internet that says that the AR mags actually solved the feeding problem. Please advise.

Tagging to follow. Didn't realize there was a feeding issue with the Ruger American in 300 BLK using the rotary mags. I got an early generation one, ran a variety of commercial 300 BLK through it, and never had a problem (probably using 3-4 of their rotary mags) - very fond of the rifle. Maybe these mags manifest issues over time, if it wasn't a QC problem during production that led to variable performance.

I can tell you none of my magpul mags feed .300blk worth a damn. I stick to steel.

If you get a bastard file, you can file down the bullet guides as, unlike metal mags, are solid plastic. I forget the exact dimension but I believe it to be around .125. This will then make the .223 mag just like those made specific for the 3OO BO. I have modified both Lancer and Magpul and they work just like they were made for the 300 BO. :party29:

I have a RAR in 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel, both seem to feed fine. The Mini 30 mags in the 7.62x39 have a nice tight fit. The Grendel mag is a bit sloppy. Both are reliable. I am kind or surprised that the rotary mags are an issue, these usually work well for Ruger.

slight thread derail but how quiet is it in a bolt action? I wasn't that impressed with 300 in a semi.

300 blk in a single shot break action with an Octane 9. Loaded with N320 people swear it's an air rifle at the range. The AR pistol never got used after that.

Magpul mags have ribs to help guide 223/556 rounds. With 300blk those ribs will hit the bullet ogive and cause all kinds of wonky feed issues. Try a Lancer mag if you have those issues. They feed much better in 300blk and 458 socom. They lack the ribs that the magpul mags have.

Man I regret getting a micro 30 sometimes. It's just not a quiet can. But I am curious how it would sound on a bolt gun.

Am I the only one that hasnt had any issues with the pmag? I did have a strange issue in extreme cold once where the spring was extremely slow to push rounds out. That's probably unrelated though.

It's only some bullets that have issues, usually the larger pills. 200gr+ and the ogive is really out there with the longer bullet. The 110gr and 150gr stuff doesn't touch.

that's what I figured. I didn't have any issues with 220 though. Maybe I should shoot more of them fully loaded just to double check.

Lancer and Magpul both make mags for .300 black now.

I have an early model. All it took was minor polishing of the magazine lips to cure the feeding issue. The angled front part needed to have a sharp inside edge knocked off. It was fine after that.

I have the 300 Blackout in the Ranch Rifle. It would not feed with the rotary magazine if more than 3 rounds were loaded. Called Ruger and they sent me a new magazine. Same problem. Tried the video remedies and still did not work. Also had tried different bullets, same result. Factory or handloads.

Looked for aftermarket magazines. Got a 10 shot from Lucky 13. Works great.

Also have an AR-15 in 300 Blackout. Modified Magpuls work fine. Now have the Magpuls in 300 Blackout. No problems with them.

Havent heard much on the Ranch Rifle using the AR-15 mags. Seems to work OK as most are not complaining.
