    .... We told him to call the ATF immediately (before some agent cruising on line saw the photo). Never did find out what happened to it.

    Absolutely horrible suggestion!!! If everyone did that, many transferable guns would get torched! Never do that. If nothing else, the parts on the gun are worth a lot and should be completely stripped off before handing over only the receiver! Time should be taken to research and try and find paperwork. Many of these guns came home with only capture papers and can still be registered if care is taken. Hopefully he got better advise elsewhere.

    P.S. Sounds like a Jap Type 92 which is copy of the Lewis.

    Friend of a friend of a friend... While going through an uncle's belongings he found a wooden crate in the attic. Turned out to be a Japanese Nambu Type 99 7.7mm light machine gun. I fondled it a couple of times and it waaay cool. Last I knew (20 years ago) he had bought dies and was trying to get enough ammo for a test run.
