Does Barrel Profile Matter for SBR?

Someone at a range the other week was telling me that AR SBR's still have to be HBAR. My understanding is that AR SBR's can have any profile barrel as long as they pass the "copycat" feature test. Am I correct?

No, it does not. No feature test for SBRs. Just make sure your over all length if 29" or greater.

You are correct, I believe. Plus in MD you have to consider the OAL of at least 29". Something I learned when my SBR was finally set free by the ATF, MD treats SBRs as handguns, so I had to do the 77r and wait 7 more days. Talk about a bubble burst, I was depressed. lol
