Took the wife out shooting yesterday. A 9mm bullet casing got in between her safety glasses and upper cheek and left a little burn mark.

Anyone know how long these last and how to make them go away as fast as possible? My wife models part time, so her face is quite important to her and I am taking a lot of heat right now. :sad20:

I know next time she is wearing a hat.

Just ice it. Neosporin if it's not blistering. Just takes some time, which heals all wounds.
That must have been a smokin' hot load. Was it +P+?

As for the modeling. Don't they cake on the makeup anyway?

As for you; hope you have a comfy couch...

Ouch. That sucks. Is it a first- or second-degree surface burn? Blistered? Or third-degree with a cavity? If the former case, it should be mostly gone in a few days and makeup can cover it. If blistered, maybe two weeks. The latter case means an obvious scar, so hopefully not that.

    Sgt Preston here...

OUCH, I'm sorry she got burned...

Aloe is very good for minor burns...

The pharmacies are loaded with good OTC minor burn cremes...

I'm pretty sure that it will clear & go away within 7-10 days...

It might have a slight pink look to it for a few weeks afterwards...

But she should be able to cover it with some light makeup...

Good Luck to both of you...

hmm. Thanks for all the feedback. There is a small amt of blistering, so I guess a minor 2nd degree. it was not +p+ ammo.

LOL. I did say make up would cover it, but that wasn't the response she was looking for =)

Well I would say at least it was within reach and some where her reflexes would bring her to swat away quickly (though still SUX it was on the face) I know I sill have scars (light but still there) from .223 that went down my shirt

how long was it resting there on the skin

If a small amt blistering then consider it a 2nd degree burn; leave the blisters alone till they break naturally; cover only with light coating of Neosporin or aloe; likely no scars unless it got into the deeper layers of the skin (dermis); if just the outer layer (epidermis) then no scar. If the healing skin starts tightening, Vit E. oil is a good treatment to soften the skin. Good luck!

The best way to prevent this is to have her wear a baseball hat while shooting. The brim of the hat will protect the top of the glasses. While better fitting glasses may do the same they may be uncomfortable and fog up due to lack of ventilation around the glasses.
