I do not remember much about Mosin barrel steel quality but hopefully it makes great blade steel. I personally would want one of the barrel thread end ones.

I'd normally frown on such practices, but those are clearly "dug" pieces of battlefield scrap iron that are too far gone to do anything else with but melt down. On the other hand, you can't help but wonder if they are being dug in what essentially is a giant graveyard?
