I recently got hold of a Ruger American Rimfire "Predator" model, which I'd been looking for for quite a while now. I knew I wanted an accurate bolt gun to be a suppressor host, and since I also own a 10/22 the Ruger was a no-brainer over a Savage, and I was quite happy with the overall (I feel) better quality of the Ruger as well.
I mounted a Leapers / UTG 4-16X AO scope on it, and today I hit the range for the first time. I've been putting away decent quantities of Eley Target ammo lately, and I put 100 rounds of that through the rifle.
Off of a front rest with crappy rear support (the benches at Free State aren't really made for this) when I did my part the rifle would do really nice groups at 25 yards. I got several five round groups in the .25" - .3" area, and some ten round groups in the .3" - .5" area. For my first time out with it, I'm quite happy.
This rifle can be had for less than $300 easily. It's got an adjustable trigger (mine is dialed all the way down to right about 3 pounds, and it has an incredibly crisp break for a factory trigger. It comes bedded and free-floated from the factory, too. It's a great value.
