I am not surprised - however - I looked on the MD state police site and it was not listed as banned; I must have overlooked it.

It's banned by statute under Springfield Armory Inc.

The US made bayonets I ran into were significantly more than $40 and not in this good a condition. My experience however is limited. Perhaps someone else could chime in who's more of a collector.
