I'm sitting out in my stand this weekend and should I be fortunate enough to take a deer, I'm looking for a good butcher in SOMD. Google searches have yielded very little. I've used Rowells in Calvert before but looking for a place that with higher quality, vacuum sealed packaging. I'm eager to hear your recommendations. Thanks!

The lack of processors down that way is surprising. When convenient, several of my southern friends give me their deer to take up to M&G in Westminster. They'll even make the trip on their own sometimes. Used to go to Austin's but had a couple bad experiences.

Most folks down here butcher their own.

I've taken a deer to the shop on Indian bridge road. He does alright, but not great. I would do it again only if I'm in a pinch.

There's a place in Lothian - I can't remember the name but they advertise in the DNR hunting regs publication... Never used them - I do my own.

I know its kind of late but Mike Ridgell in Dameron Maryland is an excellent butcher. He owns the Bay-Mart store in Ridge. They could no doubt provide the numebr to reach Mike. He has been cutting up my deer and beef for years. Always vacuum packed and does a clean job. Very reasonable.
