Went to the same spot as yesterday. There was a truck parked by the trees on the far side and left corner of the cornfield. I don't know what they thought they were doing out there. Luckily, There are patches of trees to the right that kept a couple of deer from seeing them. The same buck I saw yesterday came out as well as the doe I was targeting for harvest. The buck stayed by the trees until he saw the doe and slowly made his way over to her. I think the big doe might be his mother because he just went near her and started browsing. I just wanted to watch what they were going to do. The truck gave up and drove across the field and bumped the deer a few minutes before legal hunting light ended.

Been out three of the last 4 days on two spots and very little activity. The warm weather and rut winding down don't give me high hopes for gun opener. But I'll be out there. The cams aren't even seeing much the last 4 days.

Did a little hunting around the house in WV this week. Very very slow. Seems like maybe they are in lockdown out here. Have not hunted the farm in Md in a few weeks to let it cool off before gun opener. Hopefully the cool weather this weekend will have them on their feet.

Activity has slowed for my spot as well, down in Charles Co. funny thing is while activity has slowed have had 2 absolute hammers strike through. One in the evening and one middle of the night. First time either of these have been on any of my cams all year.

3 of us on 200 acres. We saw one buck all week. It was a 12 point, 500 yards away. God damn hunting can be frustrating.

I'm still looking for a lease next year in southern maryland. Can't believe how hard it is to find land. I just want a couple of deer.

Haven't seen much moving in my field, but had a late fawn in the yard this morning. May have had just enough meat on it for an appetizer for today if I had had a bow handy.

Got back from WV yesterday with 2 bucks and a doe taken with the new 250 AI. Amazing cartridge and have developed a real love affair with it. Low recoil and plenty of hammer. The Barnes 100 TSX performed perfectly and full penetration. I should note that the deer were mainly in the lower fields due to green grass and recently cut corn and after the shooting started, they began to move into the hills where I got these

    In the boonies of MoCo
I was seeing does in the fields on Tuesday and Wednesday in MoCo and Lower Frederick County. They were going after the corn left on the ground from the harvest. I'm planning on being near a ridge-top overlooking a field with young grass and plenty of corn spoil tomorrow morning.

Edit: Saturday morning. Can't even remember what the date is anymore....

Not the best antlers, but this guy snuck up behind me while I was on the ground this afternoon, he should’ve followed his flight instincts through. He ran a little when I almost touched him on his nose when he was 5 ft directly behind my tree. His mistake was stopping about 35 yards in front of me. I thought he was a tiny yearling and I was disappointed in myself when I shot (reflexively) but felt a little better when I found him, I’m guessing he was probably about 125-130 lbs dressed. Didn’t realize he was quartering as much as he was until I found him with stomach mess pouring out the exit wound. Caught the very front corner of the stomach, that was a mess.

Quick field dress and a garden hose wash down....should be ok. Congrats on the kill.

Yup, got it cleaned quick and laid it in the adjacent spring-fed stream for a good wash down. No intestinal or bladder damage, just stomach, lots of chewed up grass and corn. Glad I found him quick enough to get him cleaned out fast.

12 point I shot last night, like 5:05 just pushing into the field from the woods

A buddy shot a wounded spike and another buddy got a doe. All right at the end of the day, they moved so late.

Shot this ol’ boy tonight. I’m a meat hunter and have never gone this long in the season without shooting a deer, but tonight was a big night for me.

Its not much by some standards but its the biggest deer i’ve ever shot
