I flew a few missions with the medevac crews in Philly. Paramedic pay was $16-20 an hour plus OT, benefits, etc FYI.

    Really exciting gig though

I believe the flight medics are all actual Troopers having gone through the academy with arrest powers.

They get Trooper pay + I believe....a bit more then 20 bucks a hour.

    Behind enemy lines...
Went through a local EMT program here a few years back and got to meet some of the trooper/flight medics up in Frederick...they are both armed and medics...they were very squared away.

Flight Paramedics are fully sworn Troopers.

Pilots are civilian. Some are retired troopers from back when the pilots were Troopers too.

Went civilian to compete with private services pay.

Im actually in their process. You have to be a full trooper and go to their academy.
Academy pay is $36k/yr for 6 months. Then you have 2 months road time FTO to be cleared as an operational trooper, during that time pay is $46k/yr, once you get into aviation (which right now is a guarantee) you move to $51,500/yr.
Medevac Troopers work 12s and are scheduled by their Hanger Sgt. Each hanger is different. For example Tpr 7 uses a loose matrix scheduler, but Tpr 2 uses a "tell me what you want to work and if its open I'll give it to you" schedule. I don't know of the other Tpr units, haven't talked to them.

Best wishes Tower43! It's a very rewarding and exciting career
