Monkey County is about to approve a process where kids can be excused to attended protests. Does that mean they will be allowed to join the PP or only PETA?

I can see the ACLU getting on our side again if they are allowed to go to Commie protests and not Patriot protests.

I bet it's not the kids who are instigating this.

Don’t forget to get your free condoms from the school nurse before you leave. Another crazy MoCo idea!

That idea is too sensible to be coming out of MoCo since it would protect from STDs and pregnancies and has an actual scientific foundation.

Does that mean they will be allowed to join the PP or only PETA?
What do you think? The principal has discretion to grant leave or not, so you can guess at what point it would be inappropriate to leave school for reasons totally not related to being a pro 2a rally. If it is something more "sensible" the kids will not just be allowed to leave but also get an hour to parrot the stuff they heard about at school.

So just what do the parents teach? Your daughters get their birth control pills from the school, without consent from the parents, and your sons get their condoms. School seems a lot more interesting than when I went 50 years ago!

    "Dear Principal:

Please excuse little Johnny's absence tomorrow. He wants to go the protest at NRA headquarters."

No need to mention he'll be wearing his Patriot Picket tee shirt.

I've told both my stepsons that every time there's a school walkout protesting gun rights, they get to do a range trip that same day, and burn unlimited ammo.

We intend to use the "protest days" to do this. But if they refuse, it will suddenly, obviously, blantantly become an "excused absence", complete with doctors note forged right in front of the school staff, for added incredulity.

I see protests scheduled daily the last week seniors are in class. When I was a wee lad it used to be called senior skip day.

Well it’s seems it’s all but a done deal. Up to three EXCUSED absences per year. States it’s “designed to prepare students to become leaders”. WTF?

This is stuipd. Kids don’t spend enough time learning in school, so make it better by allowing them to misss more school. Another wrong lesson in life, do whatever you want to do, no priorities. Students should be thinking about grades, colleges, work, family, friends, and etc, not Planned Parenthood or NRA. They are going to used as pawns. I doubt any politicians far away from DC will pass such rules as high school kids protesting somewhere not close to DC is an effective as a bunch of kids in DC.

It's not like they are learning much of anything useful in school any more anyway. It's turning into such a farce, I don't know about monkey county, but in Baltimore city and county even if the kid doesn't show up or just sits there they get 50% credit just for being assigned to the class.

Too bad they don't have enough knowledge or experience with the issues to really engage meaningfully. Protests are usually just gatherings or mobs to make a show of force, chanting mantras or listening to talking points.

    Here, an inexperienced, undereducated force.

And how many will go because of either peer pressure or an excused adventure day off from school?

Sounds like the proponents are themselves the ones wanting to protest, and to use students as pawns and proxies.

So what happens if there's a test or exam that day? What does the school system say about that? Will the kids be allowed to make up the test/exam or will they just give them a 50% grade for not doing anything, like other school systems? Mid terms and finals be damned, as long as it's teaching them to be leaders....

    Yeah right.

    Yeah right.

The burden will be on the teachers to ensure that they are given an opportunity to make it up.

Is your school system one of those that have a directive that a student who does not do an assignment will get a 50% grade without doing any of the work?

I think the teacher's union should step up on this subject and forget about their SJW mentality and do what's best for the student. No attendance, you get a 0 for anything due that day.
