One of the top 2 or 3 3-gun shooters in the world, Greg Jordan, is a Harford Co. sheriff's deputy. He does most of his local shooting at the York IWLA just south of York, PA. They do a lot of different matches there. Ann Arundel Fish and Game near Annapolis does all three (not sure about 3-gun). Several of the affiliated clubs of Baltimore that shoot at Marriotsville have IDPA and other matches.

I carry the biggest pistol that does not print when carrying it. That means either my DW Bobtail Commander 1911 in 9mm or my HK USP Compact in either 9mm, .357Sig, or .40S&W (the HK shoots all three with just a barrel change). I have shot both in IDPA. I believe in three key words, shoot, practice, and carry, and all three must be the same firearm.
