I like to wear skin-tight cutoff shorts, a sleeveless shirt(bonus points if you've also cut it up to show off the abbs), knee-high tube-socks, and a man-symbol necklace. Drink some johnny walker black, while peforming some kettle-bell exercises.... so she knows you're classy, but slightly savage. I've had lots of foxes come running with these simple tricks.

I have had some bad luck with birds flying under my deck and killing themselves while flying into the house. I usually take the dead bird to the edge of the woods and it's gone by the next morning. Yesterday, there was another bird laying on that patio, I didn't move it and this morning a fox had come up to the patio and retrieved the dead bird.

I think a piece of any bird would probably work. A raw chicken leg or breast should work. If the fox is used to the area, I think any raw meat will work.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for all the input everyone. I will attempt lureing it and shooting it with a suppressed .22 since I have a good line of fire into the woods. I may try an electronic predator call a friend gave me. I will build a box trap and go that route also using the suggested bait. If all else fails I will try the speedo and gold chain thing..
Hopefully I will report back victorious

Please, please don't send pictures if you have to use the speedo and gold chain method..... ;)

Smelly cat food and dead crows works for me. As most have said, forget the box trap as you'll probably wind up with coons or skunks.

Unless they are getting acclimated to having people nearby, the are pretty wily and should be shot from a stand.

I think if you use meat in box trap, you will more likely catch a chicken. Do what Foxtrapper suggests.

    Meat attracts foxes lol

Good luck getting a red fox in a cage trap...

Best bet is to try to call it in and shoot it.

This is what I was going to suggest. An electronic caller and a .22lr. If you've got a suppressor great, if not it is what it is. They are legal now IIRC and beyond that, AFAIK they are legal any time, even out of season, if harassing your animals.

Though you probably can't bait or call them out of season.

Not sure what county you're in, but the usual safety zone restrictions exist with shooting varmints or fox/yotes harassing your livestock.

The fox in Howard Co must be dumber then elsewhere because I've never had problems catching them with cage traps. Biggest 2 things are using the right size cage and where you set it. Use the 24x19x50 cage and put it 50-100 yards away from the coop along the path the fox uses to come in. The trap size is the key. The more room they have, the more likely it is the fox will investigate.

meat, chicken deer, beef it doesn't matter so much. also some rotted meat so the smell will carry farther. #1 or 2 foot traps in a blind or digging set. I usually use three traps per set. do all that's possible to not get any human sent on the traps or bait. the thing is this will get fox but also coons, possum, cats , dogs, stupid kids and adults poking around. so set accordingly.

I have had great success in luring raccoons and opossums into traps using cans of tuna that I've punctured a few holes in and secured with bailing wire inside the trap. I don't have a trap big enough for a fox but if that bait works for the other two "chicken killers" I'm sure it'll work on a fox.

Skunks also love cat food. Luckily, skunks are pretty laid back after an hour with a black blanket over the trap and will walk out without spraying or even getting upset.

I only let healthy ones loose. If the appear to have rabies, its SSS.

I caught a raccoon last night in my XL Havahart with some Italian sausage scraps. :D

Two more raccoons, at least one fox and one possum need to go and things should be back to normal. I hope. At least for a while.

A wildlife person gave us some medication to inject into a chicken breast to treat our fox's mange. She said broil the breast for 2 min a side and it was good to go.

Our fox got down to a Mohawk on the back of his neck before the 2nd treatment kicked in. That was his only fur. My wife saw him get one breast in the morning. He looked up at the sky as if to say thanks, or maybe WTF?

He is long gone but we have a replacement. They must sleep for 4 hours and hunt for a couple. We see him or hear him all hours of the day.
