Here’s mine. It ain’t all that pretty, but it has fired everything I’ve put in it.

As soon as I get my HQL I’ll be looking to trade it off for a 357 revolver.

Just picked this baby (Wilson Combat CQB Tactical LE with a recessed crown bull barrel) this past weekend. Fit and finish are outstanding.

My old beater. It has 1943 and Remington stamp on it. The barrel is almost a smooth bore and it was re-blued at least once before I bought it. It has been in my collection for almost thirty years. She is not much to look at, but I love her.

Rock Island - The Centennial Edition

Here's something I've never seen before... and can't find much info about it.

It's a gold-plated "Standard GI" 1911-A1 FS with scrolled engraving and "Centennial Edition" on the right side of the slide.
The plating is factory - the S/N and "1911-A1 FS" are engraved through the plating.
The grips are unusual too, black hard rubber with a "RIA" logo.
All the small parts, pins, mainspring housing, barrel, etc have a polished black finish.
Note the lanyard ring in the mainspring housing, and the beveled mag well.

I wrote to ARMSCOR and they came back with a Feb. 2011 mfg date (which makes sense), and it's on the books as a nickel-plated gun.
That makes sense too, since you'd want to start with a polished gun vice a rough one destined for a parkerized finish.

I did find an old post (fall 2010) on the M1911 forum from an RIA guy, with pictures of 4 proposed "Centennial Edition" pistols, 3 of which were gold-plated.
He was looking for comments on what folks would like to see...
interestingly enough, an overwhelming majority wanted just a simple park'd version.

A 1913 and 1918 colt. Haven’t shot the 1918 in 35 years. For shooting, a les baer monolith.
